Are you are a passionate, hard-working actor? Do you want to have, not just a career, but a life as an artist, in theater, film, TV, or new media? Then we are looking for you! Here at NCDA, we are committed to creating creators in our Advanced Program.
Beyond strengthening your acting techniques, we will help you develop and expand the talents and passions you know you already have and, crucially, the abilities and artistry you don’t know you have!
In this creator accelerator, you’ll learn to tell stories from the ground up. Whether devising a new play, writing an innovative screenplay, or acting on camera in a short film, you’ll be asked to contribute YOUR ideas every step of the way.
OVERVIEW
REQUIRMENTS
We are radically redefining actor training by cultivating authenticity, agency, empathy, and diversity in all forms. We are interested in originality and individuality, not types. We welcome applications from students with at least a high school diploma or GED, and have a background or experience in acting, creating, filmmaking, etc. If you feel you’re prepared for the advanced program, we’d love to see what you’ve got!
With supportive faculty, a community of like-minded classmates, and a robust training program rooted in empathy, exploration, and encouragement, there's never been a better time to start!
The Advanced Program contines in January 2025!
Learn the techniques necessary to help you excel at this new and exciting form of storytelling. Graduates have gone on to work with some of the top Immersive theatre productions in Vegas, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and DC.
Create original performances through collaboration with professional devisers and your ensemble. Creations have ranged from movement driven stories to full linear scripts. Learn to prepare and engage in the process of developing new concepts, scripts, and shows.
From script to screen and everything in between. You'll get your hands dirty with the nitty gritty work of writing, directing, producing, acting, and editing. Share your projects on the big screen at our annual Film Festival, and participate in city and nationwide film competitions.
Get in front of local, regional, and national directors, casting directors, producers. and other industry professionals in audition workshops and networking events. Receive immediate feedback on your audition from industry professionals who are casting and ask your questions to help demystify the industry.
You have a story and no one can tell it like you! We will pair you with industry professionals who will help take your idea to reality over the course of the program. When it's over, you have something to take into the world that is all yours! Previous students have created short films, YouTube content, voiceover reels, animated films, full length plays, audio plays, and much more!
